A “phoenix out the ashes” gut-renovation of an obsolete 1960’s era 75,000sf building into a signature mixed-use, light-filled academic and student-activity center.

A central 3-story atrium features a “solar clock”, which provides daily 20-minute solar-noon lighting up and down the atrium stair and marks the solstices and equinoxes. Carefully modulated daylight was brought to every occupied space.

Multiple spaces in and around the building were adapted for student study and lounging.

LEED Gold was achieved using high-performing HVAC and new exterior rainscreen envelope.
